My Priorities
Government
While I love Massachusetts, recent and long term policies are hurting Massachusetts families and taxpayers.
Massachusetts is ranked as the least transparent state in the nation - this is a huge problem and one of the reasons people have lost their trust and don’t bother to engage in the political process. I will work hard to make our government more transparent and accountable - starting with approving the audit of the state legislature that 72% of voters asked for in 2024. With recent revelations of egregious waste and fraud in other states and even here in Massachusetts, this is more important than ever. Our hard earned tax revenue should only be funding legitimate organizations. When it is wasted or stolen, it doesn't get to the people who need it the most.
Massachusetts is also one of the least affordable states in the nation. College graduates have to go live with their parents or leave the state because they can't afford their own homes. Seniors are being put under increasing financial stress with property tax overrides becoming the norm, and recent talk among Massachusetts lawmakers to eliminate Prop 2.5. Wealthy families are likewise leaving the state, taking their enormous tax contributions with them due to unfair tax policies. Our state government's enthusiasm for new taxes to compensate for their overspending is hurting everyone, young and old, rich and poor, and the middle class. Solutions include prioritizing spending on citizens who have paid into the system, reducing wasteful spending, rolling back taxes, and increasing unrestricted state aid to cities and towns.
Tax revenue and key spending decisions were once primarily in the hands of local cities and towns. That balance has been turned on its head. Today, the state controls most of the funding, while municipalities receive a shrinking share—made worse by inflation—and much of that funding comes with restrictive conditions. The widely unpopular MBTA Communities Act is a clear example of this shift. Cities and towns should regain greater control over their own resources and have the freedom to make decisions that best serve their communities.
The US is trillions of dollars in debt, and Massachusetts is $120 billion in debt. It's financially irresponsible to welcome in hundreds of thousands of non-citizens and pay for their every need while we're in debt, schools are struggling, seniors and college graduates can't afford to live here, and residents are drowning in excessive taxation.
Like many states, Massachusetts also has numerous concerning voter irregularities. MA4FairElections is dedicated to conducting the voter integrity analysis that our state government should be doing. Through great expense and effort, in the 2022 election, they found 750,000 voter registration violations , 300,000 of which voted in the election. They also found in the voter roles numerous deceased individuals, duplicates, invalid/illogical registration dates, and more. To learn more, listen to this informative interview with Jeff Cohen.
The party warfare and political vitriol is obscuring the facts and blocking common sense solutions. It is my sincere goal to bridge the partisan divide by welcoming all viewpoints and engaging in robust debate, so we can create the best solutions for the problems facing our community. This is why I serve as the Red State Coordinator for Braver Angels, a national non-profit whose goal it is to improve the quality of political discourse, restore respect, and increase understanding of diverse views.
We’ve had enough of entrenched, career politicians who prioritize industry over citizens. It’s time to return to being a government by the people. I am one of "the people" who has a heartfelt desire to serve Massachusetts families by restoring common sense, fiscal responsibility, transparency, affordability, integrity, liberty, and wellbeing.
Health
It’s time to bring health into public health.
While the covid death toll is devastating, we lose over 2 million lives every single year due to chronic diseases like heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. Our public health agencies have been narrowly focused on infectious disease and enforcing a one-size-fits-all, top-down pharmaceutical approach. A broader approach that includes supporting true health will benefit both the physical and mental health crises, reduce costs, improve productivity, and make us more resilient in the face of another pandemic. It also improves quality of life.
Public health should be supportive, not coercive. Medical mandates erode trust in our public health institutions, create worker shortages, financially hurt hard-working families, and have negative physical and psychological impacts.
Environment
Physical and mental health begins with a clean environment.
Toxic chemicals in the environment are the elephant in the room that no one is talking about. They are contributing to the physical and mental health crises. The average newborn has 287 chemicals in the umbilical cord blood. One hundred and eighty of these chemicals cause cancer and 217 are toxic to the brain and nervous system.
Many of the chemicals flooding our environment, food, water, homes, and personal care products contain endocrine disrupting chemicals which impacts hormones and development. Atrazine, the most common water contaminant, has been shown to induce male frogs to turn into females. That might explain some of the human phenomenon society is grappling with today.
We're also putting fluoride, a potent neurotoxin that reduces IQ, into drinking water in many communities. Residents and experts have been reaching out to their legislators for years to no avail. Additionally, there is growing concern about the chemicals being sprayed for mosquito control and climate purposes.
I support green energy projects that would create jobs and stimulate the economy. I would lead initiatives to install solar panel canopies over parking lots where they would not only provide energy, but protection from the elements. This is a far better solution than placing solar panels in green spaces or cutting down trees to make space.
I would encourage regenerative farming practices to restore depleted soil, reduce chemical inputs, and increase natural diversity.
Education
Our schools should put more emphasis on STEM, reading, writing, civics, financial literacy, and the arts, and refrain from politically divisive programming. We also need to expand vocational opportunities, as these careers are "AI-proof" and there is growing interest. Currently our vocational schools need to turn away hundreds of students every year because there isn't enough space.
I advocate for healthy school environment - serving fresh, whole foods and reducing EMFs to the extent possible.
Parents entrust their children to our schools, and the schools have a sacred responsibility to partner with parents in their child's education, health, and wellbeing. Open communication with parents and respect for parental rights are essential. By prioritizing the needs of the legal residents and taxpayers of Massachusetts, we can increase state funding without raising taxes.
Small Businesses
Small businesses are the backbone of our economy. They employ about half of the workforce. Arbitrary covid19 mandates permanently shuttered about 40% of small businesses in the nation. My husband and I are small business owners and experienced pre-covid how difficult and expensive it is to start up and run a small business here. I intend to make Massachusetts friendlier to small businesses through lower taxes, preferential loans, and rolling back onerous regulations that provide no meaningful benefit, so that they once again flourish, create jobs, and help residents achieve the American dream.
Illegal Immigration
Illegal Immigration has already cost Massachusetts taxpayers billions of dollars with no end in sight. This is incredibly frustrating when we struggle to fund our schools and already grapple with homelessness. Our state leadership has shockingly prioritized unvetted illegal immigrants over our students , tax payers, seniors, and Veterans. Furthermore, illegal immigrants have attacked police and assaulted and killed innocent Americans. These tragedies would have been avoided if the government did its job and secured our border. For the record, I am for legal immigration.
Police
We owe a debt of gratitude to all First Responders who bravely serve our communities. Defunding the police and making their job more difficult is a short-sighted approach that increases crime and makes us less safe. Any challenges within the police force are better addressed with training, resources, and support.
Veterans
Veterans did their duty serving our country. Allowing them to live in poverty without access to quality health care, especially while we spend billions on people living here illegally, is a disgrace. It is our duty to take care of our Veterans for the rest of their lives.
